 The Purrfect Cat is proud to announce the launch of a new business, specializing in “cattitude adjustment” through humane, evidence-based behavior modification.  The goal is to improve the lives of cats and their owners by addressing any problematic behaviors that may be causing strain on their relationship.   Chris Aytug, has extensive experience and knowledge in equine and feline behavior, is evidence-based medicine trained and is dedicated to providing personalized solutions for each individual cat and owner. She offers a range of services, including education, live or online behavior consultations and/or feline training. All clients will receive a thorough situation assessment, customized behavior modification plans and 2 months of email support. 

The Purrfect Cat has helped 5 local cat lovers manage feline behavior situations through in-home and virtual visits.   

Chris of the Purrfect Cat will attend the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) on May 4-7 in Houston, TX.

 The Purrfect Cat will be starting an externship with the team at Gainesville Animal Services this Fall  The goal is to better understand how the adoption process works and learn key information so I can better support cat owners and their cats from the entire community.  

The Purrfect Cat owner, Chris Aytug, has completed a feline behavior externship with Newberry Animal Hospital (Dr. Kimberly Hall).  Working with Dr Hall and 2 client referrals helped to refine the process of working with local veterinarians on a case.

The Purrfect Cat Is proud to announce she has received notice of Certification in feline behavior and training from the Animal Behavior Institute.  Chris' goal is to help as many cats  possible to thrive with their families.

Chris has passed the course and is now a certified Fear Free Professional Trainer.   Fear Free training is an important component of any behavior modification process.  The goal of Free Free training is to provide the least stressful method to obtain cooperation from the pet to perform a behavior, even one that is somewhat stressful, in a relaxed manner.  No more forcing medications or tight restraint for nail trims!   Just training a few simple behaviors gives the cat confidence by providing choice.  We just need to listen to our cats and they will trust us more and build a stronger bond.  Make vet visits less stressful!!!  Contact me for more information.  This certification requires annual CE to remain certified.

The Purrfect Cat behavior consultant Chris Aytug has been invited to be a group expert/moderator for the global FB site My Cat Behavior Help.  The invitation was extended by the UK-based certified behavior consultant and founder of the site, Alex Worth.  Chris reviews hundreds of behavior cases from around the globe each month and, along with the team, provides solutions for often desperate caregivers.

Chris travelled to Orlando, FL and Asheville, NC for 2 incredible conferences this Spring.  First, the FL Veterinary Medical Society (FVMA)  April 19–20 to attend 2 days of behavior lectures by board certified veterinary behaviorist Dr. Lore Haug  DVM, MS, DACVB, CABC , from Texas Veterinary Behavior in Houston TX.

Then, from May 1-3, Chris absorbed incredible amounts of information from the veterinary behaviors and experienced certified feline behavior consultants and behaviorists speaking at the  annual International Association of Behavior Consultants Meeting.

The Purrfect Cat is proud to partner with the Newberry Animal Hospital to offer the first kitten kindergarten classes in Gainesville!  Stay tune for details for this exciting event, available to 6 lucky kitten owners, coming in early 2025!
